Hello Internet,
As I am sure that everyone can honestly say at this point: it has been a long week. Recent snowstorms have thrown my school schedule for a loop, and my mental and emotional rhythm is only just now recovering. Combine that with everyone in my family getting the same cold around the same time, and things at home have been tense, to say the least. We're on the mend, but we're still limping.
Writing has not taken place much lately. I am in the process of revising my schedule yet again to get me through the next three months. Part of what happened was that I had gotten so excited about developing and discovering a new schedule for the coming year that I forgot about the rest of this school year playing out. With my gaze fixed on the horizon and my anxiety mounting, I stopped sleeping well and am only now adjusting back to a healthy sleep schedule out of necessity.
Mostly, I am looking at the tools I have and trying to use them again. My wife got me small, throw-away schedule cards to use, which I like a lot. She also got me a guide book to develop to combat burn out cycles, which has been vital. I've been falling back on a lot of my comforts, and I'm starting to find equalibrium again. It's taking time, but I am getting there.
Right now, I'm starting on adapting my short-rest schedule (sort of an entertainment menu). Last Friday, I turned in the paperwork for my state licensure and now just have to wait for a response from the state certification folks. My writing schedule shouldn't have to change, though I am definitely paring it down for when that time does come. I often try to fill every small crack of free time I have with something, but that is what contributes to the burn out. It's important to allow time for nothing to happen.
So, the plan moving forward then is to update my schedules and adapt as needed, and prepare mentally for what is to come. The SL are going to be moving into a room together for Spring Break, which will be the next major change I will have to accomodate. In the meantime, I've gotten quite a bit done, and I am doing a good job. So, I just need to get back to writing and relaxing. I've already done well with my life. Now, I need to make my own happiness a priority.
