Dear Internet,
Sometimes, writing can be very difficult for me. I often have a lot buzzing around in my head, and it can be difficult for me to structure stories and remember what I am doing to what story when I am doing it. To do that, I've created a process for story generation that I follow for almost all projects. Over the next few weeks, I am going to break down that story generation process and explain what each step of the process means and how it works. I may or may not use examples from stories I have worked on or am working on depending. For this post, I am going to give a brief outline of the steps of the process and then end with my usual update.
My process for story generation is as follows:
First, I do Concept on a story.
Next, I do an Outline for the story.
Third, I write the Rough Draft (or first draft as some might call it).
After that, I Revise that draft to what is typically it's final form.
When revisions are finished, I read through and Edit the story.
Finally, I Post the story online.
For some stories, I then begin the process of querying in pursuit of Publishing.
So, the process is Concept, Outline, Rough Draft, Revised Draft, Editing, Posting, and though I call it Publishing in my personal notes, I'll call is querying. I am an expert on none of this and will be using these next few posts on my blog to help me sort out and organize information. So, look forward to that. Take care until then.
Sincerely,
RWS
